Campaigns

On behalf of the sport, the RFL campaigns directly on a number of issues and lends its support and expertise to important partner campaigns. Ongoing campaigns include:


Bringing major sporting events to the UK: The RFL works to make the case for government support for hosting major Rugby League events in the UK. Major events, like the Rugby League World Cup, have significant benefits for the host country, town/city and region. They bring measurable economic benefits, and promote skills and can inspire participation in sport and physical activity. The RFL supports the work of the Sport and Recreation Alliance in campaigning to ensure that the UK is best placed to win the right to host events by introducing a series of measures which rights holders evaluate in the bidding process. 

The RFL has welcomed the announcement in November 2015 that the Government will support a bid by the UK for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.


This Girl Can: The RFL, on behalf of the sport, is an active supporter of the award-winning This Girl Can marketing and activity campaign from Sport England. Play Touch Rugby League has embraced the campaign, using its insight and assets to shape the Touch Rugby League offer to female players. 


Increasing diversity in sport: The RFL supports the leading equity bodies in sport and actively campaigns to remove barriers to participation, volunteering and working in sport and physical activity among all under-represented groups. See Equality and Diversity
