Report | England 78-32 Wales

Jack Brown and Sebastien Bechara both score hat-tricks in crucial win.

England beat Wales 78-32 in Pamiers yesterday to chalk up their first win of the Wheelchair RL World Cup.

Wales were on top in the first period, going into half time 26-18 up.

But the second half saw England make a comeback, scoring back-to-back tries through captain Jack Brown and Nathan Collins.

Wales were then reduced to four players when Andrew Higgins was sent to the sin bin for a hip thrusting tackle on Collins - England went on to dominate thereafter.

They scored 14 tries in total to end the game with a 46-point lead at the final whistle.

Jack Brown and Sebastien Bechara both ended the game with hat-tricks, while Collins and Wayne Boardman each scored twice, alongside tries for Joe Coyd, Ryan Richardson, Tom Halliwell and Jodie Boyd-Ward.

England Coach Mark Roughsedge said: "The first half was extremely disappointing for us as a team.

"But after coming together at half time, we went out in the second and did the job.

"We still have a few things to work on in training today ahead of the Australia game tomorrow, but we will be ready."

England's next and final group game takes place tomorrow against Australia in St. Jory at 6pm UK time.
