Swinton Lions have almost certainly retained their Kingstone Press Championship place for 2018 after beating relegation-rivals Oldham 29-6 in a huge four-pointer on Sunday.
Caine Barnes’ 17th minute converted try gave Lions the lead although Oldham hit back through George Tyson seven minutes later.
But the hosts dominated from there on in with Ilias Bergal, Ben Austin, Oliver Davies and Rhodri Lloyd all crossing.
The result means Swinton go two points clear of Oldham, with a points difference which is over 200 better than their cross-city rivals.
In a prelude to the Championship Shield final, leaders Toulouse Olympique enjoyed a huge 56-14 win over Batley Bulldogs in the South of France.
Stan Robin scored a hat-trick whilst Mourad Kriouache and Mark Kheirallah both bagged braces for Sylvain Houlmes’ side. Johnathan Ford, Paul Marcon and Tony Maurel were also on the scoresheet.
Wayne Reittie, Bradley Hill and James Harrison all crossed for Batley.

Sheffield Eagles battled back from 22-10 down to defeat Rochdale Hornets 26-22 at the Beaumont Legal Stadium.
Kev Penny, Matty Hadden and Jack Holmes has all scored tries, whilst Danny Yates kicked five goals to give the Hornets a 12-point advantage with 32 minutes left.
But coupled with first half scores Matty Fozard and Garry Lo, the Eagles completed an impressive comeback with Jack Holmes, Perry Whiteley and Fozard crossing a second time.

Bradford Bulls recorded their fourth win of the Super 8s phase of the season as they defeated West Yorkshire rivals Dewsbury Rams 16-12 at the Tetley’s Stadium.
Cory Aston, Ross Peltier and Lee Smith all got over for Bradford, with Dom Speakman and Aaron Brown crossing for the Rams.
