Warrington Wolves 34-24 Wakefield Trinity

Tom Lineham scored a hat-trick as Warrington Wilves earned a thrilling 34-24 Betfred Super League victory against Wakefield Trinity.

Lineham claimed a quickfire double in the opening 13 minutes of the game, both created by in-form full back Stefan Ratchford.

And then in the closing stages Lineham went the length of the field for a spectacular try claim his hat-trick and make the game safe.

England international Ratchford, who kicked three goals, also created a try for Bryson Goodwin, while Mike Cooper and Ben Murdoch-Masila touched down for the Wolves and Goodwin also landed two goals.

Wakefield claimed five tries through Reece Lyne, Bill Tupou, Tom Johnstone, Ben Jones-Bishop and Liam Finn in defeat, with Finn and Taylor Randell landing a goal apiece.

Warrington coach Steve Price said: "I was really pleased with patches of the game but not so pleased with other areas.

"There were periods when we didn't get our tackle control right and that was frustrating at times, but there were periods when we were exceptional in that regard.

"Overall it's a tick in the right direction. It's the first time we've scored that amount of points this year so we can draw a lot of positives and confidence from that."

Trinity coach Chris Chester said: "There are no excuses tonight, we just got beat by the better side.

"Warrington played well and the best I've seen them play this year - certainly the best in the way they attacked against us where we struggled on the right edge.

"I thought we did OK with the ball but we weren't willing to do the tough stuff tonight and that let us down."
