The following Disciplinary cases will be heard this evening by an Independent Operational Rules Tribunal (HH Rodney Grant, John Hamer & Graeme Hallas):
Daniel Smith (Huddersfield Giants) pleaded not guilty to the Grade B Dangerous Contact charge in the Betfred Super League fixture against Wakefield Trinity on Sunday March 4. The tribunal dismissed the appeal after reviewing the match footage, believing the challenge to the existing One Match Penalty Notice to be unreasonable and frivolous. Under the guidlines, the tribunal imposed an additional match to the suspension meaning Smith will serve a two-match suspension, and receive a £500 fine.
Dec Patton (Warrington Wolves) was found guilty of a Grade D High Tackle charge in the Betfred Super League fixture against Hull FC on Friday March 2. The player contested the grading level but the tribunal were satisfied that it was the correct grading level. The player has two previous incidents of disciplinary on his record (including striking) and within the guidelines set out, a concussive injury should be an aggravating factor which occurred in this instance. Patton received a five-match suspension and £500 fine.
Jamie Dallimore (Barrow Raiders) contested the grading of the Grade C Dangerous contact charge in the Betfred Championship fixture against Batley Bulldogs on February 25. The tribunal dismissed this appeal and Dallimore has been suspended for four-matches, but did not impose a fine of £250.
