Bosc named Catalans assistant

Catalans Dragons have appointed former stand-off Thomas Bosc as full-time assistant to head coach Steve McNamara.

The 34-year-old Frenchman, who hung up his boots at the end of the 2017 season after spending his whole career with the Perpignan club, takes on the role filled jointly by Michael Monaghan and Jerome Guisset last season after stepping up from the job of Under-23s coach.

“I’m really happy and proud to become assistant coach in this club,” said Bosc, who is Catalans’ record points-scorer with 1,173.

“Coaching the Dragons’ Under-23s was also a great experience but I couldn’t refuse the opportunity to join the Catalans Dragons staff.

“I was working alongside Steve and the first-team squad since the start of the pre-season and this experience confirmed my desire to coach.”
