As previously reported, in the tenth season of Masters Rugby League in UK, the Masters Steering Group decided to introduce the 'Spirit of Masters' award for those who are foremost in fully embracing Masters Rugby League and the spirit in which it is played.
Paul Field is the third recipient of the 'Spirit of Masters' Award and he collected the award at the Premier Sports National Masters Festival at Blackpool from Masters Chairman, John Wroe.
Blackpool Master and NW representative on the Masters Steering Group, Paul Ogden, praised Paul's contribution to Masters: "He is Masters Rugby League, through and through!"
Paul, who has heritage number 18, played in the UK's very first Masters Festival in April 2008 and against the first touring Australians the same year before touring Australia in 2009.
He began refereeing Masters in 2009 and has not only driven thousands of miles to referee games, he also runs the Masters referee courses. He spends most weekend days playing or refereeing or BOTH!
Paul has played Masters and refereed not only in England but also in Wales, France, New Zealand and Australia: refereeing the 2013 New Zealand v Australia international in Christchurch, N.Z. He continues to serve on the Masters Steering Group.
