HOW ENGLAND'S BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE BASED WORLD CUP HOPEFULS GOT ON DURING SUPER 8S ROUND 5

Jonny Lomax scored the winning try for St Helens against Wakefield Trinity on Thursday evening.

Trinity full-back Scott Grix couldn’t clear the danger and Lomax pounced on the ball to score.

Mark Percival converted the kick to give Saints an 18-16 win and move them to within one point of Trinity.

Prop Alex Walmsley made 196 metres and provided an assist before being substituted to rush to hospital where his wife was giving birth.

Greg Eden scored his 37th try of the season as Castleford Tigers defeated Leeds Rhinos for the fourth time in 2017.

Luke Gale kicked an impressive seven goals from the boot, whilst Leeds Rhinos’ Kallum Watkins scored one try and kicked four conversions in his team’s loss.

Wigan’s John Bateman was vital in their victory over Hull FC. Bateman made 101 metres, 27 tackles and scored the try that secured Wigan the two-points. The win moved the Warriors into the semi-finals spots with two games remaining.

Liam Farrell made 141 metres, 44 tackles and provided an assist, whist Sam Tomkins also registered an assist in the win. Scott Taylor made 116 metres and 2 tackle busts for the black and whites in the loss.

Huddersfield Giants were convincingly beaten by Salford Red Devils on Saturday. Jermaine McGillvary pitched in with a try as his side fell out of the semi-final runnings.

Kev Brown and Chris Hill scored as Warrington Wolves secured their Betfred Super League spot for 2018. Stefan Ratchford also provided an assist in the win.
